Karen Y. Cui

Dr. Yongzhi (Karen) Cui joined our laboratory in October of 1999 as a postdoctoral research fellow. She has received an MD from China Medical University in 1995 and her Ph.D. from the same institution in 2002. In LGP she focuses on several research projects. Most notebly Karen, along with Keiko Miyoshi and Greg Riedlinger, isolated and characterized the Stat3 and Stat5 locus and further discovered two novel proteins, LGP1 and LGP2, within this locus. Currently, Karen is applying cDNA microarray technology to a identify Stat5 taget genes. In addition, Karen, Greg and Keiko targeted the mouse Stat5 locus with loxP sites, which allows her now to inactivate Stat5 in a cell- and temporal-specific fashion.
